A GREAT OPPORTUNITY

Athletes in Action is the athletic ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ International. AIA began in 1966 with a wrestling team and has since grown to where it fields approximately 25 international competitive teams involving some 300 athletes each year. In addition, AIA staff work with college and professional athletes around the world.

Since its beginning in 1966, AIA Wrestling has sent competitive teams to all six continents. These teams represent the United States, Athletes in Action and the Lord Jesus Christ. AIA Wrestlers have proven to be winners -- over the past three years AIA has won four international tournaments.

The purpose of these projects is to use the platform of wrestling to share the life-changing message of Christ, and to provide wrestlers and coaches with an unforgettable international experience athletically, spiritually and culturally.

2006 PROJECT PLANS

Athletes in Action is planning a trip to Russia, May 15-29, 2006. The next trip will be July 11-29, 2006 to Guatemala. On the trips, wrestlers will receive hard athletic training and instructions in ministry skills and cross-cultural communications. They will also learn to apply biblical principles to their athletic training and competition.

Outreaches will include evangelistic clinics, speaking in local churches, and personal contact with people in our host countries. In addition to competition and outreach, Athletes in Action provides an extensive discipleship curriculum to enhance personal growth and maturity.

FINANCES

As with all Athletes in Action projects, the AIA Wrestling Team is made possible by interested individuals who are willing to prayerfully and financially sponsor team members.

Each team member is responsible to trust God to raise his portion of the team's expenses of approximately $3500.

Athletes in Action provides the necessary training and materials to enable team members to develop these funds. Sunday School classes, church missions committees, relatives, friends and Christian businessmen are excited to be a part of helping reach the world for Christ through athletics. All contributions to Athletes in Action are tax-deductible
