Physical Training and Endurance

Introduction

Keeping your body strong and conditioned is very important. You should build a base of endurance that you can maintain throughout the year.

Your endurance and strength will be very important as you get into the late part of the season. When you begin wrestling in conference and regional tournaments, you'll need to endure multiple matches in a short period of time. Being able to recover between matches is directly related to how well you've built your endurance and strength. Proper training will also help you deal with the stress and anxiety that comes with tournament time.

Short but sweet

As tournament time approaches, you want to keep your running and lifting sessions to about 50 minutes total. On the other hand, your workouts need to be intense and focused! By balancing increased intensity with decreased time, you maximize your late season work and minimize the harm to your performance in competition.

Talent alone will go a long way, but it can only take you so far. Wrestlers who bank on their talent alone will be talking about next season and how they got cheated!
